Brídhaven is registered under the Nursing Home Support Scheme, also known as “The Fair Deal”. Under the Fair Deal the amount a person pays is calculated by the HSE and depends on their own individual circumstances. A person is entitled to live in any nursing home covered under the scheme.

The HSE pays us to provide

  • Bed & Board
  • Nursing & personal care appropriate to the level of care needs of the person
  • Laundry Service
  • Basic aids & appliances necessary to assist a person with the activities of daily living

The HSE does not pay us to provide:

  • Social Programmes such as Activities.
  • Physiotherapy
  • Daily delivery of newspapers
  • Incontinence Wear
  • Ophthalmic and dental services
  • Transport (including care assistant costs)
  • Specialised wheelchairs
  • Hairdressing and other similar services
  • Non-GMS medicines & dressings.
  • Chiropody
  • Dry cleaning

The HSE provide incontinence wear for each resident requiring same and have specific guidelines in relation to the type and quantity of pads allocated to each resident.

Ophthalmic and dental services are provided to medical card holders and Bridhaven strive to provide same services in-house to our residents, however we are subject to the same approval waiting time that a resident living at home in the community would be.

Residents who are entitled to chiropody on the medical card are facilitated by having appointments arranged for them. Bridhaven will organise an in-house chiropodist to attend to any resident who wishes to have a private treatment done in Bridhaven.

Please note that a medical card chiropody treatment cannot be availed of in Bridhaven as in our experience the medical card service does not facilitate the chiropodists to attend to residents in private nursing homes.

Bridhaven will always facilitate residents to have choice in relation to which practitioner they will be attended to in relation to the above services.

We add a €40.00 ancillary service charge to every Fair Deal Resident’s bill for extra services such as daily delivery of newspapers, physiotherapy, toiletries & activities. We will invoice this to everybody’s bill and this will be reviewed every year. We apply this fee to all resident’s invoices whether they use all of the services or not.

A full price list for hairdressing services is available below and at reception.

Our private fee is €1100 per week inclusive of the €40 per week charge outlined above. Our private fee for the Clyda Suite is €1600 per week inclusive of the €40 per week charge outlined above.

Services not covered either by the Nursing Home Support Scheme or by the €40 weekly fee include but are not limited to:

  • Transport (including cost of a care assistant to go with the resident when being transported)
  • Chiropody (on a private basis)
  • Specialised wheelchairs
